CP Job Cuts: An End of an Era?

Hey penguins! I haven’t been on lately, but I literally just logged on to see that Club Penguin is cutting jobs in their Kelowna, and completely shutting down their UK branch, which is major news! Club Penguin is yet to officially announce the news, but according to Castanet, staff has been laid off due to low membership sales; stating that Club Penguin has not been doing well, business-wise, I’m assuming. Disney Interactive said that “Disney Interactive continually looks to find ways to create efficiencies and streamline our operations. As part of this ongoing process, we are consolidating a small number of teams and are undergoing a targeted reduction in workforce.” Which is fancy adult speak for “Yeah, we need to get our work done quicker because demand is high, but we need the best of the best of this point because we’re getting a little desperate.”

I find this really disappointing because I wanted to visit the CP office in the UK someday, and it might be foreshadowing the end of CP is closer than we thought…

  1. Yes, it is a shame that the Brighton Office has shut down. It was kinda one of my dreams to actually go and visit there but now that is impossible…
